This year World Heritage celebrates 25 years at Riversleigh. David Attenborough is quoted saying “Riversleigh is one of the four most important fossil deposits in the world” come and find out why. This area is part of The Australian Fossil Mammal Site (Riversleigh/Miyumba) World Heritage Boodjamulla (Lawn Hill) National Park. The World Heritage Area is in the south-eastern section of the park and covers 10,000ha. It is the richest fossil mammal site in the world. Riversleigh’s D Site is the only area open to the public. Join one of our experienced guides for an informative morning exploring the area. You will learn the history of the local area and how fossils have formed over 25 million years. Turtles, fish, snails, crocodiles, lizards, pythons and similar have been recovered from Site D.Morning tea will be provided by the beautiful Gregory River.The tour leaves from reception at 8am sharp and returns at 12.30pm.Bookings are essential and may be made with the staff at Reception (minimum numbers apply).
